Derby’s Silk Mill Lockout procession and festival (8th June)

At UCU Derby we support the Derby Silk Mill Lockout procession and festival. Go along and show your solidarity and remember almost two hundred years of workers struggle in Derby.

In 1833/4 Derby Silk Mill Workers were locked out of work for refusing pay cuts and forming a trade union. The full force of bosses, government, church and army was used against them.

Now we are still fighting for pay, jobs and union rights in 2024. The bosses, government and state are still joined together against us. It’s the same old story!

One law for them… to keep them in power: and another law for us… to keep us in our place!

Why do we put up with it?

Join the procession and festival to show your support.
