On-line talk – 12th June 2024 – 6-7pm
For FE and Post-92 institutions most members are in TPS if they teach and LGPS if they don’t. For Pre-92 institutions most members are in USS.
A number of institutions are either now offering, or considering offering, alternative schemes. These schemes are often inferior but can have cheaper contributions. On the face of it can look attractive. This session is being run to give you information before you do something you may regret.
Some employers have introduced these schemes saying they want to offer something different to staff. However there is a real fear, particularly in Post-92 institutions, it is a pre-cursor to coming out of TPS if they can get over the statutory hurdles.
With money being tight some members may be thinking about moving out of their pension scheme.
UCU is hosting a talk by Joyce McAndrew (Pensions Official) who will explain why you really need to think hard about coming out of TPS/LGPS/USS.
The session will be no more than an hour. There should be time for questions with advance warning of what those questions may be. We can’t answer anything about your individual circumstances, the question should be generic in nature.
The event is on 12th June from 6pm until 7pm.
To register interest in attending please send your name and branch to Eastmidlands@ucu.org.uk or westmidlands@ucu.org.uk.
Please also include your question if you have one.
